Stainless steel: Available in polished and satin finishes. Low maintenance, exterior or interior suitable, the most durable plaque material. Brass plaques can be polished, satin or bronze finished. A protective coat of lacquer provides some protection, but polishing is required in time.

Copper is available in polished, satin or bronzed finish. Like brass, copper must either be polished or left to age gracefully. Acrylic plaques are available in white, black or transparent material. Choose your own colour for text (not too much maintenance required.)

Aluminium plaques can be polished or satin finished, with four different colour options. This material is the cheapest metal material for plaques.
Composite plastic is a tough, high tech engraving material. Suitable for interior and exterior use, there are many colours to choose from including metallic.

Timber plaques are available in many hardwood options. Oiled or varnished, colour text if required, timber plaques are never totally weatherproof.
Cast brass plaques are made to last, and need almost no maintenance. The most complex plaque to make, cast brass is priced accordingly.

ENGRAVING OPTIONS

Laser etching is the most economic engraving option. Etching gives a somewhat shallow, but still hard wearing image. If you like the 'deep engraved' look, the work will take longer, and carry a higher price tag. If you want colour infill other than black, you must have your plaque deep engraved.

FREE ADVICE!

Do you want a vandal proof, all weather, low maintenance  plaque?...choose stainless steel.

Brass has a high scrap metal value, so plaques made from  this material are unsuitable for remote locations and must be  fitted with security screws or embedded in concrete.

Timber plaques are not ideal for high sunlight, extremely  cold or wet environments.

Composite plastic is rated for exterior use, has no scrap  value and the metallic finishes look like real metal. Check out  composites if your budget is limited.
